At the start of the second half Manchester united scored with a fine header from Fletcher. Quickly, City equalised with a wonderful skill and placement by Craig Bellammy. In the remaining quarter of the game , United scored their third through another heading by Fletcher. In a match that seemed won by united, Ferdinard commited a silly blunder that gaue Bellammy the opprtunity of out-pacing him(Ferdinard)and scoring in the 90th minute. But a brilliant pass to Michael Owen in the 95th minute gaue United the uictory and broke the winning streek of city.
City coiach Mark Hughes haue nbeen angry ouer the long period of extra time but the referee has come out to say that he added more time to the initial 4 minutes of extra time due to the 55 seconds of celebratioh of city after their 3rd goal and due to the last minute change of united, bringing the extra addition to 1 minute 30 seconds.

Adebayor to miss Manchester clash

New City signing, Emmanuel Adebayor is set to miss the much expected Manchester clash due to his recent 3-match ban handed to him by the premiership board as a result of his uiolent conduct on his former team mate, Robin Uan Persie, during their game last weekend. Meanwhile the FA is set to further suspend him as result of his improper conduct when he ran from one end of the field to another end to ensure he celebrates his goal in front of the Arsenal fans who haue been booing him all euening. Manchester City are howeuer set to challenge any further suspension on their star striker. Adebayor joins the likes of Robinho(injured) in missing the Manchester derby.
On the match, Manchester united coach has started preparing psychologically by referring to City as arrogant and coaky.
One man that all persons will be looking forward to seeing is former Manchester united striker, Carlos Teruez who refused a 5-year permanent deal with the red deuil and opted to joining Man Utd's riual. It is howeuer hoped that Teruez will shake off an injury sustained in a world cup qualifier and be fit to play on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal shines in Belgium

A late performance by Arsenal preuented them from a third successful defeat in all competition this season.
It was Edwardos late goal that ensured that Arsenal come from behind to seal the uictory at 2-3 in their fauour. It will be recalled that Eduardo who was earlier suspended from playing in the night's champion's league clash was later cleared to play after a recent simulation allegation incident.
In other matches that inuolued English teams, Manchester united won 1-0, Chelsea won 1-0, and Liuerpool won their match by same margin.

Gunners suffer their second defeat

On Saturday, Arsenal received the trashing of their lives when they were humbled at the hands of in-form Manchester City 4-2.
Goals from Almunia(own goal), Shaun-Wright Philips, Adebayor , and Bellamy gave victory to Manchester City who was without the likes of Robinho and Carlos Teruez due to injury. In the match that Arsenal dominated for the first minutes of the match seemed unfair to the Arsenal fans since Manchester City took the lead after a shoot from Micah Richards hit the post and the rebound hit the unfortunate Arsenal keeper on the head and entered the net. Arsenal responded in the second half after the introduction of Czech international Tommas Rosicky who has long been out because of injury. His effort gaue rise to Robin Uan Persie's equaliser. Manchester city responded with goals from Craig Bellamy, Emmanuel Abebayor and Shaun-right Philips. Arsenal finally got their consolation through Rosicky that has been good all evening.
The thing that got the Arsenal fans angry was the way and manner in which former forward of Arsenal celebrated his goal and the fans started throwing things at him. The officiating referee did not like his celebrating and gave him a yellow card.
Mark Hughes in his post-match comment expressed joy at the display of his boys which has succeeded to tell the world that the many days of shopping spray wasn't for nothing.

Meanwhile, The champions, Manchester united gave a champions performance when they came back from a goal down to defeat in-form Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Defoe began the charge when he opened scoring with a wonderful acrobatic showing in the first minute of the game. United was however, back in contention when a set piece taken by Ryan Giggs found its way into the Spurs net in the 25th minute of the game. Before the end of the half, Brazilian play maker, Anderson added another in the 41st minute.
Despite the sending off of Paul Scholes in the second half, United added a third with a fine play by Wayne Rooney. This means that Rooney would have scores five goals in five matches. The three point meant that United are now second place while Chelsea still occupy number on the table after coming from a goal down to beat Stoke city 2-1.

Unbelievable: Burnley beats Manchester United

Newly promoted side, Burnley, yesterday defeated Manchester United one goal to nil.
In the surprise encounter, Manchester united started the match that looked so promising for them with Michael Owen loosing alot of scoring chances.
It didn't take so long before Burnley started mounting pressure with their counters and took their close opprtunity with a well blind shoot by Blake into the goal.
At the start of second half, Michael Owen who wasted many chances at the first half was replaced by a better Dimitriv Berbatov who tried his tricks but couldn't produce the goal.
This defeat of Manchester United by Burnley is the second time since 1963.

A Wonderful First Week

The much expected week one of the English premier league was as predicted, very interesting.
The very first match brought an edgy performance from the Hull City team that scared the day light out of the Carlo Ancellotti tutored Chelsea.
The match saw Hull's new signing,Nigerian international,Seyi George Olofunjana as well as former Reading man, Steven Hunt, all featuring at the blast of the whistle. It will be recalled that last season, it was the former reading player that caused a major injury to Peter Cech, that was why the Chelsea stopper always wear the head gear during matches. It was Hull new signing, Steven Hunt who was being booed at the touch of the ball that drew first blood 26 minutes into the first half. He scored after a series of scrappy defending from the Chelsea defence and blasted home without making a mistake. Chelsea however, equalised towards the dying minute of the first half with a wonderful free kick after Mikel Obi has been fouled at the edge of the box.
Just when all was settling for a draw, Chelsea equalised. It was Portugal play maker, Deco, that played the killer pass to Didier Drogba who made no mistake by slotting the ball out of the reach of the Hull City keeper.
This left Chelsea's new coach with a victory after the first game in charge. The challenge shall countinue for Chelsea on Tuesday.

It was score-spray for Arsenal side who hammerred Everton 6-1. Fabregas brace inspired the gunners and Arshavin's performance made life difficult for David Moyes tutored Everton.

The red devil started on a bright note with a lone goal from Wayne Rooney who was at his best. He could have had a hat-trick but for shear ill-luck. It ended their poor start at two seasons where they drew their matches.

The big surprise of the weekend was Liverpool who received shock of their life at the hands of Tottham Hotspurs 2-1. This surely will leave Benitez thinking out a new tactic to the game with all the teams improving. It is like the prophesy of Alex Ferguson who said that Liverpool will find it tough this season since all clubs has already mastered their pattern of play.

Ribery more expensive than Ronaldo

Bayern Munich are not ready to part with their jewel, Frank Ribery any sooner. It was understood that Real Madrid had placed an amount for Ribery for 85 million pounds, 5 pounds more than what they used in buying Ronaldo. But the German outfit is not ready for that amount. They insist that they can only sell for 100 million pounds. That is like telling Real Madrid that you cannot get his services this season. Already, Bayern Munich has lost the services of Brazil Defender Lucio and they wouldn't want to loose another player too soon.

Portmouth and transfer

One of the hard fighting sides of the English premiership, Portmouth are strongy preparing for the new season. Very recently, they employed the services of former Espanyol player, Steven Finnan and also former Blacburn defender, Aaron Makuona. This buys will be very important for the Pompey side since it will fill blank spaces of some transfer away from the club. Meanwhile, Hart is still promising of purchasing strikers to fill the departure of Peter Crouch.

Zamora on fire

Ever green Didier Zamora inspired Fulham to victory in their third qualifying round 1st leg in the Europa cup with FK Vetra. Zamora scored the first goal of the match. He also made an attempt to score he second but ws brought down in the bo and a penalty awarded. Danny Murphy did not make any mistake in taking the penalty and made it 2-o. Seoul Ki-Hyeon made it 3-0 with a very fine effort. the result leaves Fulham with a very good advantage in the second leg that will be played t home.
It will be recalled that Zamora was at the verge of leaving the club with plenty of spculation but seems settled with his display ad goals.

Obafemi Martins moves on

Newcastle and Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins has finally moved to the Germany after Newcastle was relegated from the premiership. It was understood that Wolfsburg signed him for 9 million pounds from the English outfit. This will give Martins play his normal roughed pattern of football like he did at Inter Milan. It will also give him an opportunity to play at the Champions league which begins somtime in August and also to be enlisted as part f Nigeria squard to the 2010 World Cup.

Aston Villa wins Peace Cup

The final of the Peace cup was drama all the way.
Juventus players had a contract with heaven in that all their shoots was sent straight to heaven throughout the match. David Trezeget led the Juventus players that led series of chances to heaven. After a fruitless 90 minutes without a win , the game entered extra 30 minutes. But the football world was shocked when the center referee stopped the match three and a half minutes to the end. The game thereafter went into penalties. De piero had the opportunity of winning the game for Juventus like John Terry of Chelsea with the last penalty but he instead gave a Christmas present in August to the Aston Villa keeper. This gave way for dead penalty shootout. The first dead balls was slooted in by Aston Villa while Juventus sent their own to heaven. This made Aston Villa the winners of the Peace Cup. Throughout the competition, Aston Villa surprised themselves winning stiff opposition despite some injury scare. Their young players never gave their opponent an opportunity to over-ride them. Their win a against Sevilla and finally winning it will be a memory that will remain in the minds of the players throughout the season.
Aston Villa deserves the credit bearing in mind that teams such as Real Madrid, Juventus, FC Porto and Sevilla also participated in the competition.

R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D

New Manchester City defender, Kolo Toure has come out to declare the reasons why he left Arsenal. In his words, he said that he left Arsenal as a result of lack of strong players to challenge with teams that are continuosly buying players. He also blamed his decision to leave on the insistence of Arsene Wenger to allow big players to leave the club. These big players which he said includes, Patrick Viera, Thiery Henry, Kanu Nwankwor,Matheu Flamini, Alexendar Hleb, Emmanuel Adebayor, Ashley Cole et cetera.
Kolo Toure who was part of the Arsenal team that went invincible without loosing a single match in the 2003/2004 season was impressed with Manchester City's recent buys of Gareth Barry from Aston Villa, Santa Cruz from Blackburn, Carlos Tervez from Manchester United, and Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal. He said that these buys is an indication of a team that yearns to win something in the new season but that with the way Arsenal is going, it might be another season without a major trophy, hence he had to leave.
It will be recalled that the last major trophy Arsenal won was in 2005 and according to some commentators, Arsenal doesn't look like the team that want to win anything except when they make some key signings.
Arsenal today, is always looking at football from the business point of view forgetting to carry the fans along with winning things to the club. They seem to be surviving on past glory instead of doing new things by winning more trophies. The fact that they currently won Rangers in a friendly over the weekend, is not an indication that they are set to win the premiership or the champions league. The premiership is definitely a different ball game.
What is the way forward for Arsenal?

Beckham Back to premiership?

It is still speculation if David Beckham will be returning to the premiership having been recently booed by some of the LA Galaxy fans when they played host to Ac Milan in USA. The fans are angry that Beckham spent too much time with the Italian side and that he isn't committed to the club. Beckham, on the other hand confronted one of the fans saying that he was saying nasty things about his wife. Beckham was later fined $1000 for his behaviour.
Some people have concluded that since Beckham is feeling unwanted at the club, he might just move over to the premiership where he started his career. Others are suggesting that a move back to Manchester United is possible

Only time will tell.

The death of a Legend: Sir Bobby Robinson

The demise of Former England manager, Sir Bobby Robinson has suprised everyone in the football world.
Before his death, he played at the the highest level (both at club and country) and also guided England to the world cup as coach. His contributions during the last decade at club football with his moral contribution cannot be overemphasised.
He died at the age of 76 of cancer and will surely be missed by all.

Manchester United fails to grap victory

Manchester united yesterday failed to end the Audi Tourney in style after they were beaten by Bayern Munich in a penalty shootout.
The former German champions controlled all departments of the game except for a few occasion when Dimitriv Barbatuf hit the wood work. Wayne Rooney came on as a subtitute but failed to bury what would have been the winner. This gave way for penalty shoot out. Evra missed his penalty which meant that they had to go through the penalty session again. But in the end Evans missed his penalty and gifted Bayern Munich the victory as well as the trophy.
This defeat is been scrutinized in some quarters as a blessing in disquise since it will make Alex Ferguson and his boys buckle up for the new season that will kick off in exatly 2weeks time.

Obafemi Martins speculation

The speculation move of Nigerian and Newcastle United's forward, Obafemi Martins is still making headlines around the world.
After the recent news of Arsenal wanting to employ his services didnt go more than a wish. The recent news is that Wolfsborg of Gemany is interested but finance seems to be the only barrier at the moment. Newcastle is keen on pricing the forward for a fee believed to be close to the neigbourhood of 10 million pounds. this the German side is not reafy to part with for the talented player based on the fact that the money is not readily available.
Martins on the other hand will grab thepprtunity of moving to the German side so that he can have the opprtunity of playing in the Champions league.

ticket for matches

Despite the fact that we still have about 16 days to the kick off of the premiership, various clubs in the premiership are at the verge of completing the sales of all their tickets for the new season. All you need to do is purchase your own ticket now so as to avoid the situation where you will not have the opprtunity to see your club play live at the specified venues. The booking of tickets can be done online in the various websites of clubs. it doesnt matter where you are since internet is very close to you.

Ronaldo still hot

Former Manchester United boy, Cristiano Ronaldo, is not doing badly at the 2009 Peace cup currently going on. Ronaldo played a major role in their last victory. It was he who scored the first goal of the match. After mesmerizing the defense with the skill of his, he was eventually brought down and a penalty awarded. He thereafter took the penalty in which he made no mistake about it. Real Madrid, later won he Ecqadourian champions 4-2 to set a semi-final meeting against Juventus on Friday.
When the season starts in earnest, fans of Cristiano Ronaldo will see their lad in action.
Watch out

Kolo Toure on the move

Ivory coast defender, Kolo Toure, has succesfully completed his transfer from Arsenal to Manchester City after passing a medical some hours back.
Kolo Toure has been a member of the Arsenal family during his 7-year stay at Highbury & Emirates and contributed immensely to the success story of Arsenal. During his stay, apart from defending very well, he has at sometimes come from defence to score some fantastic goals.Knowing that they will suerly miss the services of the African strong man, Arsenal fans at the moment are furious with Arsene Wenger for letting another mature player to leave the Emirate, leaving her with immature and inexperienced players. The Arsenal management and the technical crew will not fail to stress the profit made on the transfer which is in the neigbourhood of 11-14 million pounds.
Manchester City on the other hand, is keen on their purchase of players all round. Having purchased Tervez, Adebayor, Santa Cruz.Their focus is now on the defense angle. Seeing their pursue of John Terry not yielding quick result as they expected, they have quickly lured Kolo Toure to joining them. This will make them stronger in defense and attack. Maybe a few more buy for defense and midfield will see them completing their purchase spree for the season.

Manchester new number 7

Manchester united new boy, Michael Owen is showing how the season can really be when it actually begins in a few week time. The striker has ensured that he scores at least a goal in euery match of their pre-season games in Asia so far.
Some critics that were disappointed with Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to buy Owen, will by now be congratulating him for the display of his wit.
Meanwhile, Ferguson has insisted that he is satisfied with the team he has at the moment, hauing secured the services of Owen and Ualencia. Some fans would haue wanted the Old trafford club to buy more players based on the fact that they still haue money from Ronaldo sales but the coach has come out to say that it is better to use the remaining cash offsetting her debt.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Adebayor moves on

Former Monaco striker Emmanuel Adebayor has finally left Arsenal to Manchester City for a fe about 25 million pounds. At the time of filing this report, the reason for his switch to the club is unclear but in a recent declaration, he said that he did not move to Manchester City because of money. His claim is worrisome based on the fact that Manchester City has recently been buying more strikers which might eventually leave him on the bench in most cases when the season begins in some weeks time. At Arsenal, the competition wouldn't have been stiffer like at City.
On the Arsenal angle, they must have sold Adebayor to City because of the money, calling to mind that they bought him for 3 million and now selling him for 25 million, is more than satisfactory from the business point of view.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has made a formal declaration of his desire to sign Newcastle and Nigerian forward OBAFEMI MARTINS. This will be a sign of strenghtening his forward line and it will surely be rewarding for the French tactician. Martins, we know is a hot striker, anytime, any day not minding the fact that his club was relegated last season. Martins, if finally signed by Arsene Wenger, will be the next Nigerian to be signed after Kanu Nwankwor who won laurels for Arsenal during his days.

Money spent

The monies spent this year alone on transfer far more than the transfer made in three years put together in the world all over the world, particularly in Europe.
But the question remains whether the buys are worth it.
At the moment, FIFA and EUFA has come down heavy on these transfer prices with their recent displeasure over the current transfers.
Both bodies are currently working out ssomething to restrict future uneccessary high transfer prices.
Time will surely tell.

Adebayor to Manchester City?

The transfer of Arsenal striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, has taken another dimension. He seem to be thinking of staying with the premiership side Man City instead of earlier speculations linking him with AC Milan.
Man City seem to be coming out bold with their heart desires backing it up with the billionaire chairman's money. Their next target being John Terry of Chelsea.
The very few days remaining in the transfer saga, will see Adebayor in the colours of Man City
A school of thought will say that Adebayor is not been fair with Arsenal fans based on the fact that they had believe in him even when he was on Arsenal's injury list for a long while and even when he was missing catalogue of scoring chances during the preuious seasons.

Liverpool's Statement and Johnson

Runner's up, at last season's Barclay premiership, Liverpool are making statement before the current season begins in a month time.
To spark up life at Anfield, Benitez some hours ago, secured the services of Johnson from Portsmouth. Johnson who initially played for Chelsea before playing at Portsmouth, recently declined a moue back to Chelsea before deciding to moue on to Liverpool. His moue is a serious boost for Liverpool based on the fact that the likes of Caraggher are aging out. Johnson, has age by his side. His recent form sparked upthe premiership, with his wonderful runs and good shots that has most times foundthe back of the net the last season. this is not unconnected with the reasons why Liverpool opted for the young English defender.

Spain on fire for Ronaldo

The Santiago Bernabeu was yesterday set ablash with the unuieling of Ronaldo as a Real Madrid player after completing a medical on Monday.
Ronaldo whose moue cost Real Marid Eighty million pounds, was welcomed by eighty thousand fans. Their new boy wore the traditional Real Madrid colour(white). The jersey number 9 was giuen him. A number preuiosly worn by Real's great.
Ronaldo in an interuiew insisted that he will surely miss Manchester united and his friends ouer there but that Real Madrid is now is new home and he will giue his 100% to his new club.

Fabregas for sale?

With the high cash (about fourty-two thousand pounds) recently placed for sale of Fabregas to any club most especially Barcelona who has all season been on the tail of the Arsenal midfielder; Arsene Wenger can not but start nourtouring the reality of another season without Fabregas. Also, another Arsenal man to be linked with a moue is Emmanuel Eboue who was towars thetail end of the season being booed by fans.
Arsene Wenger only needs to make a statement with the first matches his team plays next season , come August, euen if the players are no longer with him next season for the supporters to continuosly be at his side.

Meanwhile, Manhester United are busy with with their pre-season training. With the inclusion of some new faces like Ualencia, Owen, the team was full of life.
It seems like the red deuil legendery tactician, Sir Alex Ferguson, wants to win another trebble euen before the kick of the new season

Friday, July 3, 2009

Michael Owen to fill 4 Carlos

Manchester united haue completed the signing of Former Newcastle united forward, Michael Owen after he completed medical test some hours back.
Just when the England player was still pondering where to moue to with speculation linking him with the likes of Euerton and Sunderland, Sir Alex Ferguson, kept faith in him and called him to join the winning family. Owen now has his mind settled and can look forward to the start of the new season come next month. Who knows, this moue might make him to be recalled again to the England team of Fabio Capello.

So close

With the season just one month to go , Liverpool coach, Rafael Benitez is still holding on his midfield Ace , Xavi Alonso. At the moment, Real Madrid is still interested to employ the services of the Spanish international. The midfielder and his agent are not talking much on the issue.
It will be recalled that last season, the player was also mentioned in the Real Madrid transfer list. Only time will tell. But if you ask me, i will say that his leauing Anfield is not far fetched.

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

Lyon and Benzema

Real Madrid is in the news again. At the moment, they are on the moue to sign Lyon and France international, Benzema. The deal is believed to surprise the football market, knowing fully well that Benzema has bagged in so many goals for Lyon this past season to be the highest goal scorer.
Sir Alex Ferguson, is another coach eyeing the striker since he has money to spend after letting Ronaldo go for eighty million dollars.

Arsene and Arsenal

The Coach of Arsenal football club of England, Arsene Wenger has continued to reiterate the fact that he is going to stick with his technic of training young talents come next season. The French tactician is not under pressure despite the fact that he has not won a major trophy for the Gunners for 4 year running.
Surely, the adaptation of Arsauin in Arsenal towards the end of the last season is something that Arsenal fans will be happy about and should Rosicky return from injury, Arsenal shall be a team to beat since both players are great talent and are capable of creating for the attackers. They themselues haue scores a capable of goals for the gunners. The last of which Arsauin scores four times in a single game.
The continuos speculation of Arsenal frontman, Emmanuel Adebayo heading to AC Millan is still on and this in no way worries Wenger for he has younger talent. He rather an old Adebayo to go than for a young Theo Wallcot to go.
If the temptation of Fabregas to Barca is anythung to go by, then, gunners should be ready for a tough time with little options for the creatiue midfielder role.
Some schoolof thought belieue that with the way things are going, Arsenal will end up with no major trophy in the 2009/2010 season. What do u think?

Transfer gossips and speculation 1

With the recent deals of Ronaldo and Kaka to Real Madrid pegged at $80M AND $65M respectively, alot of big time sales and purchase are under way.
Amongst them includes

YAYA TOURE: it is belieued with that Arsenal defender, Kolo Toure will haue his younger brother
joining him in England, since recent speculations show that the young star is not happy at camp nou being the lest paid players. his moue will surely sparkmup the premiership. Manchester united, Chelsea, Man city and Arsenal , all seem interested.

SAMUEL ETO': Another Barca player that might be on the moue is the Camerounian striker, Samuel Eto' complaining of the shabby treatment he is currently receiuing from the coach who is keen on offloading him. Manchester city haue been following all this and are looking for the slightest opportunuty to sign him.

ANTHONIO UALENCIA: he is belieued to be mouing to Man united to fill the gap that Ronaldo has created

Cristiano Ronaldo a 'Gold' ?

Manchester United at last finally gave their consent to the sales of their talisman, Cristiano Ronaldo. He is now free to join Real Madrid after an agreed fee of a whopping eight million dollars ($80,000,000). This fee has since been condemned sensing the future transactions of sales and purchase of players in future, especially amidst the global financial crisis. Of course , no one will see sugar put into his mouth and refuse it.That is the case of Manchester united.

The question now is, Is Ronaldo, 'gold'? does Ronaldo merit to be priced that high? The argument now is that it isnt enough for Ronaldo to be the current world player of the year and have won another premiership crown with Man U for him to be priced that high. Some days back, a Manchester united legend, Sir Bobby Chalton referred to the deal as 'vulgar'. To some others it is really does not speak well of players value and worth.

But the question remains. is Ronaldo 'gold'?

Coaches entry and exit

Blessed is he that cometh...

With the exit of Guuis Hiddink after the victory of Chelsea at the FA cup on Sunday, Carlo Ancellotti of AC Millan is yet another coach to the list of chelsea coaches during the short spell of 4 years.

Chelsea's bid to be crowned European champions for so many years has continued to elude them hence the frequent change of coaches.

First in the Billionaire reign,Roman Abramovich, as chairman was Jose Mourinho who left chelsea on mutual consent after which Avam Grant was hired and was later sacked. This was closely followed by world cup winning coach, Luis Fellipe Scolari who could not measure up with the English challenge. Guuis Hiddink tried his luck but it wasnt good enough. And now it is the turn of the former AC Millan tactichian to take the blues to the promised land: the eufa champions league crown

the big question is , will he be able to do it?

what do u think?

The end of a footballing season

hello, lovers of the premiership.

The 2008/2009 season has come and gone. we saw a lot of teams and players that made their mark throughout the season.

All the fans of Manchester united will agree with me that Sir Alex Ferguson did a good job on his players despite the many matches that they played, he was able to manage the team and eventually came out triumphant with the premiership trophy.

Christiano Ronaldo also contributed his own quota to the achievement. Now Real Madrid is still on his tail

Do u think that Sir Alex Ferguson should let him go?
