On Saturday, Arsenal received the trashing of their lives when they were humbled at the hands of in-form Manchester City 4-2.
Goals from Almunia(own goal), Shaun-Wright Philips, Adebayor , and Bellamy gave victory to Manchester City who was without the likes of Robinho and Carlos Teruez due to injury. In the match that Arsenal dominated for the first minutes of the match seemed unfair to the Arsenal fans since Manchester City took the lead after a shoot from Micah Richards hit the post and the rebound hit the unfortunate Arsenal keeper on the head and entered the net. Arsenal responded in the second half after the introduction of Czech international Tommas Rosicky who has long been out because of injury. His effort gaue rise to Robin Uan Persie's equaliser. Manchester city responded with goals from Craig Bellamy, Emmanuel Abebayor and Shaun-right Philips. Arsenal finally got their consolation through Rosicky that has been good all evening.
The thing that got the Arsenal fans angry was the way and manner in which former forward of Arsenal celebrated his goal and the fans started throwing things at him. The officiating referee did not like his celebrating and gave him a yellow card.
Mark Hughes in his post-match comment expressed joy at the display of his boys which has succeeded to tell the world that the many days of shopping spray wasn't for nothing.
Meanwhile, The champions, Manchester united gave a champions performance when they came back from a goal down to defeat in-form Tottenham Hotspur 3-1. Defoe began the charge when he opened scoring with a wonderful acrobatic showing in the first minute of the game. United was however, back in contention when a set piece taken by Ryan Giggs found its way into the Spurs net in the 25th minute of the game. Before the end of the half, Brazilian play maker, Anderson added another in the 41st minute.
Despite the sending off of Paul Scholes in the second half, United added a third with a fine play by Wayne Rooney. This means that Rooney would have scores five goals in five matches. The three point meant that United are now second place while Chelsea still occupy number on the table after coming from a goal down to beat Stoke city 2-1.
